A popular internet meme inspired this design. The meme consists of footage from the anime Lucky Star, with the audio taken out. In its place is the Hall and Oates song Out of Touch. You’re only meant to listen to it on Thursdays. Yes, meme culture is weird. But I found this meme to be funny, since I was already a fan of Lucky Star.

My artwork combined this concept with a logo layout similar to the logo for the reality TV show Survivor. The outer ring usually says outwit, outplay, outlast, so it was only natural to replace those words with lines from the song: out of touch, out of time, out of my head.

I uploaded this artwork to Redbubble on the 24th of May, 2020. On the 26th, I received an email from Redbubble stating that this artwork may contain copyrighted material by Hall and Oates. I guess they were just issuing a blanket ban on anyone using the phrase ‘hall and oates’ in their title or tags, which I did.
