About This Artwork
I love watercolours.
Ok, well, maybe I really just love the way watercolours look when weilded by people who actually know what they are doing. I have not that much experience with them. And working in a mostly digital way means that’s not likely to change soon.
But there are some angels out there who make resources for Procreate so that I can use watercolours digitally. I bought a set of 50 watercolor brushes for Procreate by PicByKate and immediately set about making a positive affirmation piece.
Since I was already doing the ‘traditional-medium-but-make-it-digital’ thing, I also made the lettering, as best I could, look like it was drawn with a calligraphy brush. And I made certain words look like they were gold embossed.
One year after making Version 1, I decided to make Version 2, with improvements in the following areas:
- A more detailed watercolour background. More texture brushes were used.
- Lettering that looked more organic and hand-drawn. I chose new fonts – Brusher for the main lettering, and Reshuffle Sans for the capital letters.
I also manually distorted and texturised each letter of each word. - More realistic gold lettering. I removed the black stroke, and brightened the gold colour.
I like Version 2 much better, and I hope it will help people with achieving a more optimistic mindset.
